A Hunter’s Moon

a full moon seen through the branches of a treeThe Full Hunter’s Moon lit up a clear sky here in New York. According to folklore, hunters were better able to use the light of the Hunter’s Moon to track their prey.

 

Word has it a Sangai fawn was born at the Patna Zoo.

The endangered Sangai, also known as the brow-antlered, Thamin or Dancing deer, are known to live in marsh areas of the Kaibul Lamjao National Park in the northeast state of Manipur.

It is estimated that fewer than 200 Sangai deer are alive today.

The head of a white deerFor the first time in 60 years, the public will have a chance to see the world’s largest herd of white deer at the Seneca Army Depot in Geneva, New York. Bus tours are being offered by the non-profit Seneca White Deer, Inc. as part of their effort to drum up public support for a self-sustaining Conservation Park at the Army Depot.
